Desert Reflections
Dear April 2019,
Thank you for the amazing adventures. We saw so many faces and places that we love and miss so much.
You brought us back to the place it all started, Phoenix, AZ. We were able to witness and take part in Zach and Adelina's wedding. They're a fantastic and beautiful couple and their wedding knocked my socks off. Literally, I'm missing a pair of socks from that weekend. It may have been the 16-hour brunch/ pool party. We wish them the best in their new life together.
Next, you took us to Puerto Penasco, Mexico for yet another successful Rocky Point Hash. Rocky trails, sandy beaches, banana boats, fashion shows, Ms. Wilson's students met Hot Pocket, and a booze cruise all came together to make sure I was the most buracha cucaracha.
Then, you surprised us with a trip to Sin City. Of course we couldn't get there without first stopping in Flagstaff for quality time with Peter and Cisca. Thank you for all the steak and all the trails, including a quick jaunt in and out of the Grand Canyon. The Las Vegas Hash put on a hell of a show with their Magic Mystery Bus On-Onniversary. We made a lot of new friends as we found ourselves running trails and swimming across ponds in Laughlin, NV.
The grand finale was, of course, the Phoenix Red Dress Run. YES! And also OUCH! We had a great time seeing all of our old Phoenix hashers and all of the great visitors that the event always brings in. I'm still trying to figure out what happened during my time travels from Sunday noon to Monday noon. Honor to Lady in Red!
In between these big events, we managed to fill our days with substitute teaching, trail running, a bachelor and bachelorette party (can't wait for the wedding Brendan and Ashley!), coworker/ student reunions, happy hours, Secret Santa in April, crashing one of those stupid scooters that litter the streets, and even more hashing.
We couldn't have done any of this without the help of our amazing friends. Elle T and Libbet, thank you for letting us take over your house for the month. It was the cozy base camp that we needed and it was great to be your roommates. Justin and Liz, thank you for graciously lending us your vehicles for long periods of time. We would have had less freedom and spent a fortune in Ubers if it wasn't for you.
Traveling the world has been so good to us, but it sure was nice to come back to Arizona for a month before we take off soon for our European chapter of the trip.
Thanks a million to all who crossed our paths this month!
