Leah Recap Australia
A few days ago marked the end of our Australia/New Zealand journey. What a wonderful time we had! Mostly, we are absolutely blown away by the generosity of new and old friends. We have many places and people to thank for such an incredible experience. Australia first!
*Sydney*: thank you for your wonderful fresh fruit & vegetable market, your beautiful parks, your multi-cultural foods, and being a great place to watch Die Hard on Christmas. But mostly thank you for Kaylyn and Kyle who took the best care of us and then gave us their house and cat for a week. It was so wonderful to have our own space and be able to relax a little. (Even if we did lock the keys inside once).
*Bellambi Beach:* thank you for an awesome place to bring in 2019, a beautiful beach, our first time playing lawn bowls, and a terrible Blue Bottle sting. Mostly, thank you for being a place to celebrate with a beautiful, old friend Kaylyn and many new friends: Kyle, Garrett, Ali, Adeline and Andrew! So many board games, a few drinking games + carrots, and so much Boone’s farm!
*Melbourne*: thank you for great public transportation, a really fun hash, our first park run, and such diversity. But mostly thank you for our new friends Prue, Lance, and Lopie! We met this amazing couple in Bali on a volcano and they welcomed us into their home with open arms. Lance fed us and taught us about American politics, Prue took us on an amazing trip to the great ocean road and had the best suggestions, and Lopie brought us on several park adventures. I hope to see you all again somewhere in this big world-maybe even before you have a new Prime Minister (although that’s unlikely).
*Tasmania*: thank you for being the best hidden gem, ever! Thank you for the most beautiful scenery with such diversity in a small space. Mostly, thank you for our new friends Ringo & A Bit Of This/Caroline. We had never met these fellow Hashers and they welcomed us into their home, showed us around the area, made us delicious breakfast, took us hashing twice, and gave us all the whiskey and conversation we could drink until 1:30am. Can’t wait to see you two again sometime soon! Thank you, Prue for the Tasmanian tips! It turns out Tasmania is our very favorite place we’ve visited overall!
Stay tuned for highlights from New Zealand!
