Our Nation's Capitol, The Big Apple, Pitt

In the midst of our VA vacation, we decided to head to NYC so that Leah could meet up with her bestie, Adelina. Adelina was in town shopping for her wedding dress. Maybe Leah thought she could lend her expertise in Goodwill shopping. I hear they have a great selection. We made sure that NYC had a hash while we were going to be there. Even better, we knew we had to drive through Washington D.C., so we checked their hash schedule and found a trail there as well! Winning all over the place.

We drove straight in to the start of the hash in D.C. The name of their kennel is the SHIT hash. So Happy It's Tuesday. We arrived to meet A.A.R.Penis and Herpecles waiting in the parking lot, adorning cow costumes. We new right away we were in the right place. It turns out it was free Chick-Fil-A day, so we borrowed the costumes and grabbed some free sandwiches before the hash. Trail was great! We didn't expect to face real shiggy while in D.C., but we found ourselves in mosquito-filled woods and crouching through a wet drain pipe under an 8-lane interstate.  Those were high points of the trail. We also had disgusting jello shots, poison ivy, and somebody smashed their head on a hidden pipe in said long tunnel. Our old pal Ballzy joined for trail and it's always great to see him. Circle was long, fun and full of song. When the shenanigans finally ended, we headed to our crash space for the night.

Red and Goes hosted us in their AMAZING house. DAMN! If I remember correctly, it's 12 stories and there is a beer fridge on every level. Osama Bin Hashin joined us at the house for some drinks and catching up even though we had all just seen each other at the 4th of July party, so it was less catching up and more BSing. It was a blast and we stayed up way too late. Huge thanks for the hospitality, Red and Goes! Your place is wonderful.

On-On to NYC! We arrived at our hosts' house before the hash so that we could drop our bags and doggy and also grab a bite to eat. Nancy, one of my best friends from high school, and her boyfriend Dan let us sleep at their place and offered to keep Diesel while we hashed. Nanner cooked us some noodles from a packet that really were delicious and then she made me promise that I wouldn't add that part in the blog. Sorry, Nan, that stuff was too good to leave out and we would have died at the hash without it. NYCH3 trail number #1803 also happened to be the 60th birthday party for I Feel Tower. We got in more than 4 miles through busy streets and a lot of it in Central Park. That was really great as I had not been there before. We stopped for beers in the park and watched some amateurs practice for an upcoming play. They didn't appreciate their new audience. The NYC hashers were some fast ones! It was much more sprinting and less solving trail. Our friend Coney was one of the hares and he treated us like royalty. He bought some of our drinks, hash shorts and patches. We stayed long after the hash and then finally took a drunk train ride to get back to Dancy's house. We were able to fit in breakfast with Dancy before Leah went dress shopping, Dan went to work, and Nancy went to her clinical.  Adelina, her mother, and Leah spent the morning and afternoon shopping while I had a lazy day on the couch. It was lovely. I don't know much detail on the girls' day, except that Adelina didn't find the right dress in NYC, but I did see some pictures of her in potential dresses and she looked amazing in all of them.

Our tight schedule had us leaving NYC during rush hour and heading to Pittsburgh. Again. We went back to see Susan and Matt and have more lazy time with them. They had recently been in a car-totaling accident and were both sore and sleepy. Susan had a rod put in her broken finger the day we showed up. Needless to say, she wasn't up for anything too crazy. Leah and I finally got to eat Primanti Bros famous sandwiches. YUM. They come with coleslaw and fries on it. What's not to like? We had a lazy movie day and also ordered in dinner. I don't remember why, but we decided we needed to get back to VA so we left after dinner and made it back to Adam and Shasta's around 2am. On the drive, we finished listening to the book 11.22.63 by Stephen King. Absolutely great story involving time travel, the butterfly effect, and the JFK assassination. Give it a go!

That's all for now. Keep checking back in!
